The 2026 Capital Appeal aims to raise $10 million to deliver the next major stage of Mount Sinai College’s campus redevelopment. The project will create future-focused learning spaces, including a dedicated Music and Innovation space, new Early Learning Centre classrooms, an all-weather playground, and enhanced campus security.

Mount Sinai College has grown significantly since opening in 1981 and now serves children from age 2 through to Year 6. As our community grows, our facilities need to keep pace with the educational, social and communal needs of our students and families. While the project includes significant building works, its purpose is much broader than infrastructure alone. It is an investment in Jewish continuity, educational excellence, community connection and the future of Jewish life in Sydney’s South-East.

The redevelopment will strengthen Mount Sinai College's role as a centre of Jewish learning, connection and community life in Sydney's South-East.

Students will benefit from safer and more welcoming spaces, purpose-built environments for music, innovation and collaboration, enhanced indoor and outdoor learning areas, and facilities designed to support wellbeing, creativity and a strong sense of belonging.

Families will enjoy improved spaces that support engagement, connection and participation in school life, creating an even stronger sense of community and belonging.

The Broader Community will benefit from enhanced facilities, creating greater opportunities for community engagement and shared experiences beyond the school day, including the new South-East Community Hub.

Future Generations The project is an investment in the future of Jewish education. By creating contemporary learning environments and strengthening community infrastructure, the redevelopment will benefit generations of students, families and community members for years to come.

Based on current project planning, construction is expected to commence in early 2027, with the new facilities planned to be ready in 2028, subject to construction and delivery timelines.

With any live building project, some level of disruption is possible. However, this will be carefully managed. Mount Sinai College has successfully navigated significant building works on site before, including previous major works and the more recent ELC fencing project, with positive feedback from families. For this next stage, detailed logistics are still being finalised, and Mount Sinai will work closely with experienced school-based builders, the project manager, leadership team and Board to ensure safety, wellbeing and the day-to-day experience of children remain the absolute priority.

The ELC will remain where it is. The project is about adding new, connected learning spaces and bringing our youngest learners into an even stronger, more seamless Mount Sinai journey. Children will continue to have access to their outdoor areas, and planning will be undertaken thoughtfully around their daily routines.

No. JCA is not funding the redevelopment. The redevelopment will be funded through donations from the Mount Sinai College community and supporters. Every donation contributes to creating the facilities, opportunities and experiences that will benefit students, families and the broader community for generations to come. Every contribution matters, and multi-year pledges are warmly welcomed.

Communication and transparency will be central throughout the project. Mount Sinai will provide regular updates to parents, donors and the broader community as the redevelopment progresses, including key milestones, project updates and important announcements. There will also be opportunities for community members and families to ask questions and share feedback. A dedicated email address for project-related enquiries and feedback will be established as planning progresses, ensuring all stakeholders have a clear and consistent way to stay informed, provide input and remain engaged throughout the journey.

School fees support the day-to-day operation of Mount Sinai, including teaching and learning programs, staffing, student wellbeing, maintenance and other operating costs. Major capital projects such as new buildings, learning spaces and campus improvements require significant additional investment beyond what fees can sustainably provide.

Community support through the Capital Appeal enables Mount Sinai College to enhance its facilities, create new opportunities for students and invest in the future of Jewish education. Contributions to the Appeal are an investment in the long-term strength of the College and the generations of students who will benefit from these spaces in the years ahead.
